What you need to know!

     My name is Marie Hill-Brown, owner of Caking With A Twist. I found my love for the baking industry in 2014 after a former co-worker Sally Lewis invited me to help with an after-school enrichment cake decorating class. I have worked with kids for over 25 years in the Houston Independent School District.

 After leaving the district, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a Pastry Chef, while continuing to work with the enrichment program. So, I enrolled in the Houston Community College Culinary program in 2018. Then in 2019 here comes COVID. After Covid slowed down in 2021, I was able to continue and receive my Associate Degree of Applied Science. 

I love spending my down time with my family and friends. There is nothing more exciting to me than to see a smile on a child’s face after creating something unique. After trying many endeavors, I realized I finally discovered my passion in baking. I still can’t believe this all started as a hobby for me.
